Since Liaoning Ironmen’s promotion to the Chinese Super League, the contract renewal of captain and midfield core Yoshihiro Ban has been a major question mark. Recently, Yahoo Sports reported that Ban’s renewal with Liaoning Ironmen has essentially failed, and the top assist provider from last season in China League One is set to leave Chinese football.

The report notes: “Ban is in a difficult position. Last season, he helped Liaoning Ironmen achieve promotion, scoring 5 goals and providing 19 assists, earning the league’s assist king title. Yet at the awards ceremony, he was neither MVP nor included in the Best XI, sparking controversy.”
Due to the club’s heavy reliance on local funding, contract negotiations have become more complicated than player performance, leading to the failed renewal.

Currently, clubs including Indonesian Super League powerhouse Bali United, where Ban’s compatriot Maruoka Mitsuru plays, have expressed interest, and the deal is reportedly close.

If the renewal indeed fails, it is a huge loss for Liaoning Ironmen. Under coach Li Jinyu, Ban was the undisputed core of the midfield and attack; his departure dismantles the offensive system the team painstakingly built, leaving fans deeply disappointed.

Keep a little curiosity for the next story.
