On January 19, Alibaba Health officially launched its latest AI product, “Hydrogen Ion”, now available for download after completing internal testing. Designed for physicians in clinical and research settings, it is positioned as a Doctor’s GPT. Notably, this marks the first real-world application of Alibaba Health’s self-developed medical large language model.
According to the company, “Hydrogen Ion” emphasizes “low hallucination, high evidence-based accuracy”: every response is accompanied by authoritative references, with one-click traceability to the original source, aiming to be the most reliable AI assistant in the medical field.
Doctors participating in internal testing reported that Hydrogen Ion delivers high accuracy in evidence-based Q&A, evidence integration, and analytical summarization. Its intelligent retrieval and literature review capabilities in both Chinese and English align well with domestic doctors’ workflows. While the product logic is similar to the popular international tool OpenEvidence, it offers stronger localized experience.
Industry insiders note that China currently lacks professional, evidence-based vertical AI tools for doctors. If Hydrogen Ion can consistently demonstrate practical reliability in clinical and research contexts, it has the potential to become China’s OpenEvidence.
