(Kuala Lumpur, 10th) Lunar New Year romantic comedy Double Happiness (Shuang Xi) is joining the 2026 festive lineup, with early screenings from February 13 at selected cinemas, followed by a nationwide Malaysia release on February 17 (the first day of Chinese New Year). The film aims to deliver a “New Year + Valentine’s” double celebration filled with laughs and romance.
Often described as a modern, youth-friendly take on All’s Well, Ends Well, the movie uses down-to-earth Taiwanese-style humor to explore marriage, family dynamics, and generational clashes. Fast-paced comedic set pieces and familiar wedding chaos keep the jokes coming without relying on tired clichés.
The film stars two-time Golden Horse winner Liu Kuan-ting alongside Hong Kong Best Actress winner Jennifer Yu Heung-ying as newlyweds forced to hold two separate weddings in a single day—because the groom’s divorced parents refuse to attend the same ceremony. Featuring a strong supporting cast including Yang Kuei-mei, Tin Kai-man, Tuo Tsung-hua, 9m88, and Tsai Fan-hsi, the story turns a “happiest day” into a hilarious endurance test—while gradually revealing the unspoken emotions within the family.
