17-year-old Wu Ruxi achieved a major breakthrough in 2026 by winning another girls’ singles title—her seventh overall. After claiming her first ITF junior title in 2024, she surged in 2025 with five titles, reaching a career-high ranking of No.118.
Competing in Wuhan—her “lucky venue”—Wu showed dominant form at the J100 event. She cruised through early rounds, delivered a commanding quarterfinal win, and staged a comeback in the semifinals. In the final, she defeated fifth seed Sun Jiayi 6-2, 6-3 to claim the title.
With back-to-back J100 Wuhan titles, her live ranking rebounded to No.130 after previously slipping to No.149. She also reached the doubles final alongside Yang Anna, finishing as runner-up.
Wu, developed by the Hubei Tennis School, has a strong connection with Wuhan, where she also won the singles title last year.
In a competitive Chinese junior field, several players born between 2008 and 2010 are currently ranked higher, but Wu remains among the top talents of her age group.
Following her breakout year in 2025, including five titles and a team silver medal at the National Games youth division, Wu is now targeting a place in the junior Top 100. Inspired by stars like Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xinyu, 2026 could be a defining year in her rise.
