On January 19, SK Hynix announced that its automotive LPDDR5X DRAM has achieved ASIL-D certification, the highest automotive safety level under ISO 26262, awarded by T V S D (T V Süddeutschland).
This certification confirms that SK Hynix’s LPDDR5X memory is suitable for use in critical automotive systems with the strictest functional safety requirements, including autonomous driving controllers, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), power steering, and airbags.
The ASIL-D certified memory integrates built-in safety mechanisms from circuit design to device implementation, including:
- ECC (Error-Correcting Code) to ensure data integrity;
- Redundant fuses to automatically repair defects;
- Fault notification systems that respond to error severity.
SK Hynix has also established a comprehensive functional safety management system and random fault management system, providing robust reliability for automotive applications.
