On January 27, tech blogger @刹那数码 revealed on January 24 that the upcoming iPhone Air (2) will feature a new ultra-wide camera placed horizontally. To address internal space constraints, Apple is reportedly customizing an ultra-thin Face ID module with its suppliers.
The blogger also speculated that future MacBook models could potentially adopt this ultra-thin Face ID module.
Earlier, @数码闲聊站 reported that the iPhone Air 2 will sport a 6.55-inch LTPO 120Hz “Dynamic Island” display, while part of the Face ID system on the iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max will be integrated under the screen.
However, @phonefuturist suggested that due to thickness limitations, the iPhone Air 2 may not support under-display Face ID. The report also notes that Apple requires additional development time to finalize the hardware design. Considering iPhone Air’s sales performance, the launch of iPhone Air 2 could be delayed until Fall 2027.
