ITHome reported on February 7 that generative AI is quickly becoming an unavoidable direction for the game industry. While some studios remain cautious, more and more development teams are actively experimenting with bringing AI into their production pipelines—and Sony appears ready to embrace this broader shift.
According to Tech4Gamers on February 6 (local time), Sony plans to make extensive use of AI technologies in future game development. Sony CFO Lin Tao emphasized that AI should be viewed as an efficiency-boosting tool rather than a threat to creators. In her view, AI can help accelerate production schedules, but it cannot replace a full development team, nor can it operate as an independent business on its own.
Speaking during an investor conference call, Lin said Sony’s direction is clear: integrate AI widely across game production. At the same time, she stressed that creators do not need to fear AI—when used appropriately, it can significantly improve development efficiency and help teams work faster and smarter.
The report also notes that Sony’s strategy is not to let AI take over development. Instead, the company aims to embed AI as a controlled, supportive capability within the workflow—helping developers complete tasks more efficiently, without replacing the people behind the games.
