The 2026 Thomas Cup and Uber Cup have officially kicked off in Horsens, Denmark. After a dominant 5–0 win over Australia in their opening group match, China’s men’s team faced Canada in their second tie.
In the third match, Li Shifeng took on Canada’s Brian Yang. Showing improved form compared to his previous outing, Li secured a convincing 2–0 victory with aggressive attacking play.
China, however, had a shaky start as top player Shi Yuqi withdrew due to injury, giving Canada an early 1–0 lead. The men’s doubles pair Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang responded strongly, leveling the score with a dominant win.
In the crucial third match, Li Shifeng controlled the pace early, using net control and backcourt attacks to build momentum. After a tight first game, he edged it 22–20. In the second game, Li maintained pressure, eventually sealing a commanding 21–10 win, highlighted by a decisive scoring run.
With this victory, China moved ahead 2–1 in the tie and secured a match point. Next, the men’s doubles pairing of He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu will look to close out the contest against Canada.
