KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Former radio DJ KK (Wong Kok Cheong) celebrated his 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry with two sold-out performances filled with laughter, nostalgia and heartfelt self-reflection, as a way of thanking fans who have supported him throughout the years.

Although tickets were priced at an affordable RM88 for everyone, KK spared no effort in delivering a high-quality production. The audience responded with continuous applause and laughter, leaving him emotional as he said, “It was all worth it.”

Known for treating people sincerely, KK has built strong friendships over the past three decades. Many celebrities and broadcasting personalities attended to show their support, including Phang Ee Leong, DJ May, Chan Wai Tim, Lee Xin Yi, Chai Pei Xuan, Lee Keong, Wong Piau Min, Pei Le, and Tam Yoke Lin.

While Chui Ling could not attend in person, she lent her voice to the opening narration, instantly creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Guest performers Chan Kah Leong, Rickman Chia and Cheong Pui Pui also joined the show out of friendship, regardless of the payment. KK said he was deeply touched by their support.

Despite having no time for rehearsals, Cheong Pui Pui displayed effortless chemistry with KK on stage. Their spontaneous banter and playful exchanges kept the audience laughing throughout the segment.

Chan Kah Leong took on the role of a “voice judge,” humorously putting KK on trial for his “offences,” including being sharp-tongued, sarcastic and outspoken, while KK defended himself in what became a hilarious mock courtroom. Rickman, meanwhile, portrayed an alternate-universe version of KK in a solo performance.

Beyond his trademark stand-up comedy, KK also revealed a deeply personal side, sharing stories rarely told publicly. From his early struggles in the industry to his desire for recognition through his appearance, he openly discussed his vulnerabilities and inner conflicts.

The atmosphere turned emotional when KK spoke about his battle with depression, self-doubt and emotional struggles. Overcome with emotion, he broke down in tears, allowing the audience to see the man behind the laughter.

The night's biggest highlight came with the return of his iconic female character, Datin Ong. Dressed once again as the beloved character, KK staged a humorous confrontation between Datin Ong and himself. The confident Datin Ong relentlessly questioned the real KK, while he tried to defend himself, creating a hilarious "self-trial" that became the audience's favourite moment.

Reflecting on his journey, KK admitted he used to dwell on the past and blame himself for things that could not be changed. After years of growth and self-discovery, he has learned to focus on the present instead, believing that letting go of the past is the only way to truly move forward.
