On the morning of July 30, Appleās official China Support Weibo account accidentally shared a promotional video for Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip7, instead of their intended message about parental control features on the iPhone.
The video featured Samsungās foldable phone with its smooth opening and closing motionācompletely mismatched with Appleās intended content. The mishap quickly went viral, with netizens calling it one of Appleās most embarrassing social media blunders in recent years.
A Mix-Up at the Agency?
Some speculate that both Apple and Samsung may be using the same ad agency in China, which led to a file-upload error by a content operator. Though the post has since been deleted, screenshots of the āflippedā ad spread rapidly across the internet.
While Samsung got unexpected attention, Apple didnāt walk away empty-handed either.
šØiPhone 17 Colors Leak: Vibrant Orange Steals the Show
Shortly after the ad mishap, renowned leaker Sonny Dickson revealed a new lineup of iPhone 17 models with a wide range of vibrant colors. Most notably, the iPhone 17 Pro appears to feature a bright āEnergetic Orange,ā which instantly grabbed users' attention online.
The striking color represents a bold shift from the Pro seriesā usual muted tones. While some users call it ātoo flashy to handle,ā many others loved it, forming āpre-order squadsā in the comments.
The Air and standard versions also boast fresh looksāsoft gold, light blue, and pastel pink (resembling lavender)ātargeting students and female users.
šÆColor as a Differentiator in a Saturated Market
As smartphone features converge, color has become a powerful tool to capture consumer attention. Apple is clearly experimenting with bolder design choices to stand out.
However, itās a double-edged sword. Bright colors often have lower resale value compared to classic ones, a consideration for some buyers.
šSamsung Wins Exposure, Apple Stays on Top of Trends
Despite the mishap, Samsung emerged as a surprise winner, enjoying massive exposure from Appleās unintended āendorsement.ā But Apple also gained traction thanks to the buzz around iPhone 17ās color reveal.
In a sense, both companies wonāSamsung with free advertising, and Apple with renewed consumer excitement.
