Not long ago, Huawei launched a quirky yet intriguing product — the MatePad Mini, positioned as “a small tablet, a big phone.” Its concept and design drew plenty of curiosity, and in our office, colleagues even jokingly fought for “custody rights” of the device.
Today, Huawei quietly rolled out a new system update for the MatePad Mini. The changelog already includes numerous optimizations and fresh features, but the real bombshell was hidden.
💥 After the update, the processor model — previously kept under wraps — was finally exposed: Kirin 9010.
This marks the very first appearance of the Kirin 9010 in a Huawei device. Naturally, this raises expectations for the upcoming Kirin 9030, promising leaps in performance, connectivity, and AI.
Alongside the update, Huawei officially released the MatePad Mini Reading Edition at competitive prices:

Note: this edition won’t be available online. Interested buyers will need to visit Huawei’s offline stores or authorized outlets.
Rumor has it the Reading Edition carries the Kirin 9010B, which is more than enough for everyday use — from sketching and streaming to reading comics.
