(Kuala Lumpur, April 18) Malaysia’s top women’s doubles player Chen Kang Le has withdrawn from the upcoming Uber Cup due to injury, but received a thoughtful gesture from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Wan Azizah, who sent her a fruit basket as a token of appreciation and support.
Chen had earlier revealed that a recurrence of a back injury forced her to pull out of the tournament. She later took to Instagram to express her gratitude, writing, “Thank you for this thoughtful gift—I truly appreciate it.”
She was originally set to partner Pearly Tan for the Uber Cup Finals, which will take place from April 24 to May 3 in Horsens, Denmark. Her spot will now be filled by Go Pei Kee.
Malaysia’s women’s doubles lineup will also feature pairs such as Wong Xin Yu & Chan Wei Wen, as well as Low Zi Yu & Norazlina, highlighting a relatively youthful squad.
In singles, Malaysia will be represented by K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Zulaikha, and Goh Jin Wei.
Malaysia has been drawn into Group B, where they will face strong opponents including Japan, Turkey, and South Africa.
