(Kuala Lumpur, April 18) Malaysia’s top women’s doubles shuttler Pearly Tan recently received a thoughtful gesture from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who sent her a fruit basket as a token of appreciation and support.
Tan, who had to withdraw from the Uber Cup due to a recurring back injury, shared the gesture on Instagram, expressing her gratitude: “Thank you for this thoughtful gift—I truly appreciate it.”
She was originally set to partner with M. Thinaah at the tournament, scheduled from April 24 to May 3 in Horsens, Denmark. She will now be replaced by Go Pei Kee.
Other Malaysian women’s doubles pairs in the finals include Wong Xin Yu & Chan Wei Wen, as well as Low Zi Yu & Nor Azlina. The women’s singles squad features players such as K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Zulaikha, and Goh Jin Wei.
Malaysia has been drawn into Group B alongside Japan, Turkey, and South Africa, setting up a challenging path in the competition.
